Help/Getting started/Buy a domain
Buy a domain
You can buy a domain, like yourbusiness.com.au, without leaving the admin. o/i registers it in your name, points it at your site if you like, and renews it each year. You pay by card on an o/i invoice.
Managers see the names you have on Settings · Domain but can't buy. If you don't see Get a domain there, domain sales aren't open for your site yet: ask us through Get help.

Open Settings, then Domain
On a phone, tap More, then Settings, then Domain. On a computer, the Get a domain for your site card above your name in the sidebar goes there too. If you haven't set up an authenticator app, you're asked to first.
Search for a name
Under Get a domain, type the name you'd like, pick a currency (AUD, USD, EUR or GBP) and tap Search. Each ending shows its price a year, or Taken.
Tap Buy
Pick the one you want. Under For how long, choose 1, 2, 3 or 5 years.
Point it at your site
Leave Make it this site's address ticked and we set it up for you. It can take an hour to work everywhere. If your site already has a domain, tick it to point this one at the site as well.
Say who owns it
Under Who owns it, check your details: the domain is registered to you, not to o/i. A .au name also asks for the Australian business it's for, as auDA requires.
Tap Pay and register
You pay by card on the next page. It's registered as soon as the payment goes through, and the receipt is emailed to you.
Watch it come through
Back on Settings · Domain, Registered for you by output/input lists it as Being registered, then with the day it renews.
Good to know
- The registry may email the owner to confirm their details. Please answer it, or the name can be paused.
- The renewal invoice comes 30 days before the name expires. Pay it from Settings · Plan.
- An order not paid within a day lets the name go, and its invoice is cancelled.
- Email on your domain, like you@yourbusiness.com.au, is set up by o/i on request. Ask us through Get help.
