Help/Getting started/Connect your domain
Connect your domain
Your site already has an o/i address, shown under Where your site lives now. It works straight away and keeps working. To use a domain you own, like yourbusiness.com.au, connect it here and add two records where you bought the domain.
2 minutesOwnersWorks on a phone
Open Settings, then Domain
On a phone, tap More, then Settings, then Domain. If you haven't set up an authenticator app yet, you're asked to first: the domain is guarded by it. It takes a minute, then you're brought back here.
Type your domain and tap Connect
Under Your own domain, type it as you bought it. No domain yet? Any registrar sells them, such as Crazy Domains, VentraIP or Namecheap.
Copy the records it shows
The screen lists the records your domain needs, usually an A record for the domain and a CNAME for its www. Tap Copy beside each value. Use the values on your screen, not ones from anywhere else.
Add them at your domain provider
Sign in where you bought the domain and open its DNS settings. Add each record with the type, name and value shown. If something else is already there with that name, change it to this. Not sure who your provider is? Ask us through Get help and we'll look.
Wait, then tap Check now
Changes usually reach the internet within an hour. Each record shows Found, Waiting or Not right yet, and the screen checks every time it opens. When both are right, it says Connected.
Choose with or without www
Under With or without www, pick the main address. The other one sends people to it, so both always work.
Good to know
- Security turns on by itself within minutes of the records being right: the padlock shows and the certificate renews itself. Nothing to buy or renew.
- If the domain is already set up on another account, the screen asks you to prove it's yours with one more record first.
- If the screen says domains aren't added automatically yet, add the records anyway: we switch it on for you once they're in.
- Connecting a domain doesn't launch your site. Visitors see the holding page until an Owner taps Launch site.
- Disconnect this domain stops the site answering on it. Your o/i address keeps working, and you can connect it again any time.
