Write and publish an article

Articles are the journal on your site: news, stories, how-tos. Each has its own page, and the journal lists them newest first.

  1. Open Content, then Articles

On a computer, choose Content in the sidebar, then the Articles tab. On a phone, tap More, then Content, then Articles.

  2. Add the article

Tap Add article, type a title and tap Create article. It opens in the editor as a draft.

  3. Write it

Add a Cover image, then the Body. Leave an empty line between paragraphs. The Excerpt is the short line shown in the journal list and when the link is shared. Written by shows under the title; leave it empty to use your site's name.

  4. Choose a category

Under Categories, pick a Main category. It sets the article's web address. With more than one category, Also shows under lists it in others too. Tap Manage to add or edit categories.

  5. Check the address

Under Address, the Web address is made from the title until you change it. Once an article is live, changing it breaks any link already shared.

  6. Publish it

Tap Publish at the top and it's live. Or open Publishing and choose Draft, Live or Scheduled. For Scheduled, pick a date and time (your own time zone) and tap Schedule it. It goes live on its own at that moment.

Good to know

  • Everything saves as you type. Watch for ✓ Saved at the top.
  • On a computer, a preview sits beside the editor and updates as you save.
  • Search and sharing lets you set the title and description Google shows, and a sharing image.
  • Publish date is shown on the article and sets its place in the journal. It's set for you when it first goes live.
